CHINA’S CURRENCY IS SIMPLY NONE OF OUR BUSINESS! UPDATE: ROMNEY SAYS TAKE CHINA TO WTO! I SAY GET OUT OF THE WTO!

The United States Senate just passed a terrible bill trying to punish China for alleged currency manipulation.  Critics say it will bring on a trade war.  Others say we are in a trade war with China anyway. As Clyde Prestowitz at Foreign Affairs says:

“The charge of trade war also rings hollow. If the Senate is passing a bill aimed at redressing the effects of policies and practices that everyone agrees are in contravention of the spirit and letter of global trade rules and that are also harmful to important members of the global economy, how can that be a declaration of war?” Prestowitz asked.

“Indeed, wouldn’t it be more accurate to describe the currency manipulation policies and practices as a declaration of war in view of the fact that they were implemented as a matter of strategic economic policy and without any outside provocation?”

I say what Ron Paul said in the Ames debate (approximate quote from memory):

“We just plain don’t mind our own BUSINESS!”

I assume that China is still officially communist, it still persecutes Christians and that they do manipulate their currency.  So what?  We debase our currency; at least PRC is patriotic enough to do something positive (from their standpoint) with theirs!  Besides, we just signed trade agreements with three more countries (South Korea, Colombia and Panama) that will debase our manufacturing base yet more.  Both parties were lockstep (yes a bipartisan sell out!) so if we are at trade war, our policy is apparently unconditional surrender!

I said it before and I say it now:  Mind our own business about China’s currency!

UPDATE:  Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney suggests the solution to the alleged currency manipulation scheme by PRC is:  Report ‘em to the WTO!

China is hacking into the Pentagon’s computers, grabbing the South China Sea, offering little help on nuclear proliferation, and Mr. Romney’s big proposal is “on day one” to file a complaint against China with the World Trade Organization for currency manipulation. But that’s proto-Democrat Chuck Schumer’s issue. If one can glean a commonality in the Schumer-Romney complaint, it would be campaign contributions.

I say what Ron Paul told the Value Voters Debate in 2007 (again an approximate quote):

“We should not just get out of the UN but also the IMF, the World Bank, WTO, NAFTA, CAFTA and GATT!”

Let’s prop up our own currency!  Stop spending, cut the debt, reform entitlements and stop useless wars to build nations and prop up fake democracies!  Then let’s build our manufacturing base with an aggressive protectionist policy.  Bring jobs back to the USA.  And mind our own business!
